Born in Geneva in 1975, Shahryar Nashat lives and works in Berlin and Los Angeles. Nashat’s work has been included in the 20th Biennale of Sydney, Sydney (2016); 54th and 51st Venice Biennales, Venice, Italy (2011, 2005); and 8th Berlin Biennale, Berlin (2014). Solo exhibitions of his work have been held at Portikus, Frankfurt (2016) and Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2014). Nashat has also participated in group exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2016); Haus der Kunst, Munich (2015); Frieze Projects, London (2010); Kunsthaus Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland (2008); and Tate Modern, London (2008). He is the recipient of the 2013 Kunstpreis der Stadt Nordhorn, Nordhorn, Germany (2013); Julius Bär Foundation Swiss Exhibition Award, Geneva, Switzerland (2009); Swiss Art Award, Basel, Switzerland (2003, 2002, 2001); and Kiefer Hablitzel Prize, Basel, Switzerland (2002, 2001, 2000).
